Mana village is one of the popular tourist destinations in Uttarakhand’s well-loved tourist, which situated in the upper reaches of the Himalayas, near Badrinath Dham. It is also famous for India’s last tea shop and India’s last village.
The Alaknanda River flows very close to the Mana village through a narrow valley. Mana village is thinly populated with the Bhotias tribe, who belong to an Indo-Mongolian race and have a unique culture and heritage.
Mana village has narrow stoned paths and traditional houses with varying designs. Some houses have slate walls and roofs while others are made up wood with cute balconies.
You can wander around the village and watch the local ladies knitting colourful jerseys or hauling loads of fodder while the men tend goats or play cards or carom billiards. You can buy handmade and traditional Carpets, blankets, jerseys, hats and gloves and take back home as a memory of Mana Trip.
Places to Visit Near Mana Village
There are many Places to Visit Near Mana Village Mana includes Vyas Gufa, Ganesh Gufa, Bhim Pul and Vasundhara Falls. As per epic Mahabharata, all the places have importance, that why every Badrinath visiting pilgrim also visit here.
Just outside the Mana village, Vyas Temple is located in a small cave which is 5000-year-old.
There is a natural rock arch, named Bhima’s Rock over a river and according to the epic Mahabharata, it was made by Bhima, Pandava brothers.
Located 5km along the river Alaknanda, to the 145m Vasudhara Waterfall offers you magnificent views of the valley of the Badrinath.
How to Reach Mana Village
You can reach Mana village only by Road (NH58), which is about 4Km from Badrinath Dham. The Nearest railway station to Mana Village is Haridwar that is 275km far away. While Nearest airport to Mana Village is Jolly Grant airport which is 319km far away.
You can easily plan one day Badrinath Dham trip from Joshimath if you get an early start. Although, it’s better to stay if you also want to see Mana Village and do any hiking.
Best Time to Visit in Mana Village
The months of May and June is the best season to visit Mana Village. Although, it is accessible till month November.
The local people of Mana village migrate to somewhere warmer and less remote – usually Joshimath – between November and April.
