How to Reach Delhi to Auli


Auli By Air

Jolly Grant Airport is the nearest airport to the Auli which is about 279 km from Auli. Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun is a domestic airport situated at the distance of 20 km from city center of Dehradun.

You can hire taxi cabs from Dehradun airport to Auli. The Jolly Grant Airport in Dehradun has daily flights to Delhi which is the nearest International airport is Delhi and about 500 km away.

Auli By Train

Rishikesh and Haridwar is the nearest Railway Station to Auli. There are numerous trains to Haridwar and Rishikesh from major cities across the country.

After that you can take a bus/tourist cars early morning to reach Auli Joshimath/Auli by evening. You must to reach Joshimath by 4 pm, from where the ropeway chair can take you to Auli. Although, Road to Auli is closed after dusk. You can read about Places to visit in Joshimath.

Auli is just 16 km drive from Joshimath. You can take State transport and Union buses which are play regularly between Joshimath and Rishikesh. From Joshimath onwards, for you bus and taxi services are available for Auli.

Avoid travelling in monsoons season between last may to last August , as the region is prone to heavy rainfall and landslides that could cause severe roadblocks.

Auli by Cable Car

To get Auli, you go by cable car. Joshimath – Auli Ropeway, ropeway system is the highest and ropeway of India and longest in Asia.

  There is no ATM and  petrol pumps at Auli. So, you must keep it in mind before visiting Auli.

Covering about distance of 4.15 kms in just 22 minutes, the ropeway has two cable cars and 10 towers, which offers mesmerizing views and worth each penny.

The begining point Joshimath is at an altitude of 6254 ft and Auli is at 9896 ft. The Cable Car / Ropeway journey also offers you great panaromic views of the Himalayan summits such as Nanda Devi, Mana Parbat, Dungagri, Beethartoli, Nikanth Hathi Parbat and Ghori Parbat.

Auli itself is surrounded by Gorson Reserve forest, greened by golden oak and coniferous trees.
